In the weeks prior to today's Republican straw poll in Iowa, Thompson repeatedly said he'd need to finish in the top two to keep his campaign going. Instead he finished 6th, making it likely that he'll drop his White House bid. He finished with about 1,000 votes, or seven percent of the total.
